he makes me brave

The first time you hear a worship song in church, you don’t always get “into it” like you do with songs you’ve been singing for years. You just stand there and listen, maybe you’ll look at the lyrics on the screen and sing a long but not every time. But with this song it was different.

The first time I heard the song “You Make Me Brave”, it was like I’d heard it a billion times. I was worshipping and in total amazement with God because it was just what I needed for that day. It was August 24th, 2014, we were only 9 weeks into being at our new church campus. While the big sanctuary wasn’t quite ready for us, the hundreds of people were crammed into what is now our children’s ministry’s space. Some may say that it’s a bad thing to run out of seats but it was a great thing for us. It was so cool to worship in our new home with a bunch of people that had been praying for months and our prayers had finally been answered.

Whenever I hear that song, I think of that great day and I think of how awesome God is because he makes us brave. He puts the courage and strength in us to be brave in tough situations. Whether it’s sitting by the kid that’s alone at lunch or talking to the girl in your class that needs someone to talk to, God is always there for us to lean back on.

you make me brave waves

“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9
